Lesson Planner: SchoolFi Integration Setup

This integration will allow your admins to easily view the lesson plans that are stored in Genesis Student Information System with the click of a button under the Evaluation module in their Employee Portal. 


Setup: 

Please note you will need access to both SIS and Staff Management for the setup


The connection uses the SIS ID field in Staff Management which connects to the ID field in SIS on the staff member to pull the data, with out this you will not be able to view the information for their plans. 


Step 1: Log into your Genesis Student Information System and navigate to the following screen: under the Module of Lesson Planner > Setup > SchoolFi. You can leave this page open for now. 





Step 2: Log into your Genesis Staff Management System and navigate to the following screen: under Evaluations > Setup > Genesis Lesson Planner Integration





Step 3: In the Student Information System you are going to click the Create Setup button. This will generate the URL, Client ID and the ability to create the Client Secret. Click the copy button for the Genesis URL and then past it into the URL field in Staff Management. You will do the same for Client ID as well. 






Step 4: Next you will click the create button for the Client Secret, it will confirm that you want to do this and you will click Ok.


As you click Ok, it will provide you with the secret, make sure you copy it, as once you click close you will have to generate a new one if you miss it. 


You will paste this into the client secret field in Staff Management and then click Save.


You can test the connection by clicking Test Connectivity and it will tell you if it worked or not.



You can also test out to make sure the staff members data is pulling over by selecting a staff member and click View Lesson Plans.


Step 5: You will need to add the portal permission to those who will have access to view lesson plans, this is part of the Portal Role itself, not the individual user. In Staff Management you will go to Setup > Employee Portal > Roles. You will search for the role(s) that will need this access and click on edit to go in and modify it.

Please note: this is meant for observers or those overseeing evaluations. Teachers and staff will not have this access since they are not conducting/observing staff.



Once you are in the role, you will click on the Assign Screens option and then search for Lesson, it will narrow down to the only permission titled Genesis Lesson Planner Integration Button on Eval Screens. You will check off the box to the left and click Add. Once the permission is added you can test it out in the Employee Portal.
