The Date Answer Type allows the user to select a date, and returns a "Date" data type.
Date- A Date chosen from a calendar that can be given as an answer to the question you type into the Question Box
To create a date field, select "Date" as the Answer Type when creating the question:
When you click Add, the new question is added with a Type of "Date":
If the Edit button is clicked, the full "Edit Question" screen is displayed. The "Store Result when form is completed in this Staff field" option allows you to pull the date the user enters into a Staff record field. This allows you to select the Date field in which the answer will be stored (in addition to being stored in the Form results):
Date fields appear as a text field with an embedded Calendar icon:
The user can type the date into the field or use the Calendar icon to bring up a date selector tool.
Clicking the small calendar icon brings up a calendar selector:
