Conference Form: Generic Code Question Type

Modified on Mon, Feb 27, 2023 at 12:28 PM

The Generic Code Answer Type allows you to specify a Codes Table that is used to let the user select an answer from the codes in the table.

Generic Code- You can choose any codes table in your system as a guideline for this question.

The initial "Add Question" prompt only asks for the "Answer Type" which you would select here as "Generic Code".  Additional configuration is required (see below).

Once the Question has been created, click its "Edit" button to bring up the full Question definition screen:

Now use the "Generic Code Set" drop down to select the actual individual Codes Table to use.

For example, if I choose the Staff Categories Codes Table from the drop down, I can then set my question as Staff Category to allow the person filling out the form to choose a staff category from the drop down.

Choosing the Code Set by the Field to Save the Answer in

The Codes Table can actually be selected for you if you know what field in the Staff Record the answer should be stored in.   Use the "Store Result when form is completed in this Staff field" parameter to select the staff record field you want to update.  This causes the system to select the actual Generic Code Set that is required:

When you save, the Generic Code Set is filled in (i.e. selected for you):

If you change the field you want to update, when you save, the Generis Code Set will be reset, for you, to the Codes Table required for the newly selected Staff field:

After you Save the update, the Generic Code Set has been re-aligned to the new Staff field:

In the preview you can see that all the user sees is a drop down containing the possible responses:
