Standalone Artifact Log vs Embedded Document Logs

SchoolFi Evaluations supports two styles of Artifact/Document Logs.  The "Standalone Artifact Log" is a separately configurable item that is not part of any single observation/Evaluation Event.  Embedded Document Logs are tied directly to a single Evaluation Event (observation or otherwise).

Standalone Artifact Log

The standalone Artifact Log is defined directly in the Evaluation Template.  It can be configured to suggest or require specific types of artifacts be uploaded and if specific document types are configured a running status of the uploaded item types is displayed along side of the artifact log itself.  The Artifact Log is not part of any specific Evaluation Event, but the uploaded artifacts can be associated with one or more of the staff member's Evaluation Events for the year.   A staff member only has a single Standalone Artifact Log for the year and it is always displayed at the top of their "manage" and "My Observations" screens in the portal:

Embedded Document Logs

Embedded Document Logs are completely different.  Each "Embedded Document Log" is defined as part of a single Evaluation Event.  It is configured in the Workflow for the event (e.g. for a specific Observation).

Embedded Document Logs can appear EITHER in the "Evaluation Event" panel itself or independently, at the top of the staff member's Manage or My Observations screens. However, it cannot be configured to require or suggest specific types of artifacts/documents and never displays 'document log status' as the Standalone Artifact Log does.
