Employer Match / Contribution to a 403(b) / 457(b) TSA deduction

If the District offers an employer match for a 403(b) or a 457(b), a stand-alone deduction can be programmed for both the employer and employee share.  The following settings should be used for a 403(b) or a 457(b) deduction with an employer match:



  1. Simple Employer Amount:  If the district offers a simple, flat amount to all employees, enter the value here.
  2. TSA Employer Share Percent:  If the district offers a percentage matching contribution, enter the percentage here.  If you utilize this field, you MUST select the Gross used for calculation.
  3. TSA Max Employer Share Per Payroll:  If there is a global maximum Employer contribution that applies to all employees with the deduction, enter the amount here.




Payroll Agency Vendor Setup

The Agency Vendor MUST have the following set to EE and ER for the Payroll to Budget Posting tab to properly function:





Possible scenarios for employer share / match:


Scenario #1:  The Board offers employees a match on all 403(b) employee contributions up to 5% of earnings.

Posting the Employer Match to Budget 

After the payroll is finalized, you will have a summary of the employee and employer contributions on the deductions tab for the respective payroll:


When the payroll is posted to budget, in the Payroll Posting Summary, you will see the total of the employer share included with any other deductions that have the ER setting active for the payroll agency vendor.


In addition, the lower section of the tab will contain instructions to remind the District how to post the employer share for other deductions with the ER setting active for the payroll agency vendor.  The system can not automatically interface with these purchase orders because each and every district will have different requirements / parameters for the respective purchase order.
