This is done via the Personnel→Attendance→Post Attendance screen.
Setting the Substitute
Step 1: Search for Staff Members
Go to the Personnel→Attendance→Post Attendance screen. At the top of this screen there is the usual set of search parameters:
The "Attendance Date". defaults to "today", whatever "today" is. If you are setting a substitute for any other date, change this field prior to searching for staff members.
After adjusting the Attendance Date, enter any additional search criteria, then click Search. This brings up the list of staff members who match the entered criteria.
If you do not specify additional search criteria, all staff active staff members will appear in the resulting list:
The "Substitute" column is the rightmost column in this list.
Step 2: Select a Substitute
Select the substitutes you wish to set from the drop down in the "Substitutes" column. You may also set the other options. They are explained here.
When you have entered options for all the staff members you wish to update, scroll to the top or bottom of the list and click the button. This will update attendance for all checked staff members. In addition, if a substitute has been specified, a Substitute Record will be generated.
