The Evaluation Template contains a description of the evaluation scheme for and the events of the "Evaluation Year" for a single Evaluation Category plus Tenure Status.

For example, Tenured Teachers.   Tenure status plus Evaluation Category is used to select a staff member's Evaluation Template.   There can be only one Evaluation Template for a Tenure status, Evaluation Category pair.

Each Evaluation Template has two sections:

For historic reasons these panels are all listed under the "Observations" label, but can be any "Evaluation Event" from observations, to portfolios, to meetings, to summative evaluations.

Parameters / Summative Definition Area of Evaluation Template

The "Parameters" panel at the top of an Evaluation Template details which forms to use for the Summative Evaluations of those staff members covered by the Evaluation Template, as well as defining the scoring scheme for the NJ Smart Pratice Score.  The scoring scheme depends exclusively on the requirements of the Methodology being used and is never dictated by Genesis.

The "Summative Form" and "Summative Form for staff with mSGP scores" are - essentially - the final 'report cards' describing the NJ Smart scoring for the staff member's 'Evaluation Year'.

The drop downs list all PDF Forms with a usage of "Evaluative Summative Form".

The various NJ Smart scoring schemes are described here.

Evaluation Event Descriptors

There is one "Event Descriptor" for each "Evaluation Event" - including the Summative - that takes place during the Evaluation Year described by this Evaluation Template.

The smallest number of "Evaluation Event" descriptors that can be in an Evaluation Template is one.  Every Evaluation Template must have at least one "Evaluation Event" described in it.

An "Evaluation Event" descriptor consists of six pieces of information:

  1. Description - A name for this "Evaluation Event".
  2. Workflow Template-Which Workflow to use for this "Evaluation Event" - This is required.  Without specifying which Workflow to use, there is no "Event".  The Workflow defines the actual Evaluation Event.
  3. Observation / Meeting / Event Type:  This is "Long" vs "Short".  This is required though it may not be meaningful for a particular event.  It is descriptive only.
  4. Observation Period - The time period for the Evaluation Event to take place during the School Year.   This is strictly optional and need not be set in the Evaluation Template itself.
  5. Seq - The Sequence number places this "Observation/Meeting/Evaluation" in order in the Evaluation Template definition, and, subsequently, on screens in the Portal.
  6. Unique Tag - This is an "ID" for this Event in the Evaluation Year's cycle of Events.  It can be queried for in Expression Language and is used as part of the "integrated methodology" feature set.  It is optional.  It can be used when creating final practice score formulae or for determining what type of Evaluation Event being examined at 'run time'.  If used, it must be unique in the
