Average of Domains : Page Group Calculation on Summative Observation
Step 1: Identify all unique Domain names in the rubric attached to the first observation
Domain name is the page group name in a rubric.
An example list of page group names found from this process could be: Domain1, Domain2, Domain3 and Domain4.
Step 2: Average scores for each Domain (Page Group Name) across all observations
For each unique page group names discovered in step 1:
- Sum the page group scores (for this page group name) for all observations throughout the school year
- The answer is divided by the number of page group scores found.
The result is a list of the page group names with an average score calculated from across all observations.
For example:
Page Group Name | Average of All Scores from all Observations |
Domain1 | 4.00 |
Domain2 | 3.80 |
Domain3 | 3.75 |
Domain4 | 3.85 |
Step 3: Calculate the practice score
The practice score is calculated by using the formula defined in the Practice Score Rubric section of the Summative Observation's workflow.
For example
Page Group Name | Average of All Scores from all Observations | % defined in workflow | Work | Scaled Score to 2 |
Domain1 | 4.00 | 20% | 4.00* .20 = | .8 |
Domain2 | 3.80 | 30% | 3.80 * .30 = | 1.14 |
Domain3 | 3.75 | 30% | 3.75 * .30 = | 1.13 (1.125 rounded up) |
Domain4 | 3.85 | 20% | 3.85 * .20 = | .77 |
The practice is .8 + 1.14 + 1.13 + .77 = 3.84
Step 4: Store the scores on the NJSmart Eval Screen
The domain averages calculated in Step 2 are stored in the domain fields on the NJSmart Eval Screen.
The practice score is stored in the Teacher Practice Score field if the Score type on the demographics page is Teacher or Other Certified Staff. Otherwise it is stored in the Administrator Practice Score Field.
