Chapter 44 Settings

The Date of Hire (Chapter 44 Healthcare) is set and maintained on the employee's demographic tab.  This date is extremely important in the open enrollment module and it represents the date that the employee became eligible to receive health benefits.  This field should be populated for each and every employee who qualifies to receive health benefits.  


Starting on Jan. 1, 2021, employees not waiving coverage and commencing employment on or after July 1, 2020 and before Jan. 1, 2028 will be enrolled in the equivalent NJEHP or, if selected, the equivalent GSHP, up until Dec. 31, 2027. Chapter 44 provides that employees commencing employment on July 1, 2020 or later may select any plan offered by the employer, as permitted by the employer, beginning on January 1, 2028. 


The Date of Hire (Chapter 44 Healthcare) will determine if the employee is ONLY offered the choice of the NJEHP or the GSHP in the open enrollment module.  The field can be found on the demographic tab, is highlighted below:





Designating the NJ Educators and NJ Garden State Plans


The District must designate the plan(s) that will only be offered to employees utilizing the Date of Hire (Chapter 44 Healthcare) field.  On the respective medical and/or prescription plans the box below must be checked off for the NJEHP and the GSHP.
