Utilizing Health Groups for Open Enrollment

Modified on Thu, Mar 28 at 8:26 AM

The Health Groups segment in the Health Plan will "link" different plans together.  For example, a District might have an NJEHP medical plan and a companion NJEHP Prescription Plan.  Staff members who elect coverage in the NJEHP medical plan are required to enroll in the NJEHP prescription plan.  The Health Group will be the means for linking the plans together.

The first step is to create the Health Groups.  They are created on the following tab:

As you can see from the example, you can color code your groups for ease in reviewing / sorting.  The number of groups that you can create is endless.  Once you have created a group, it can be assigned to a plan on the respective plan setup screen.

The first step is for the District to select the group for all of the plans (medical, prescription, dental, vision, other) that will be included in the group.  In this example, staff members who elect the NJEHP medical plan must enroll in the NJEHP prescription plan. The group is assigned to the 2 respective plans.

Then the District will go to the health plan setup screen and link or associate the prescription, vision, dental or other plan with will be auto linked to the medical plan if the medical plan is selected on open enrollment.

Other possible uses for Health Groups

Some SchoolFi clients utilize the Health Groups to organize their health plans by Association.  This can be utilizing in conjunction with "linking" plans as described above.  Grouping health plans by association will assist Districts in setting up access to open enrollment.

The District would have to review the parameters for all of it's plans and create it's health groups accordingly.  Here is an example from a District hat utilizes a combination of health groups that link plans and plans by Association:
