What you will need to use this screen:
- A correction file is generated when the IRS gives you rejection files with the error phrase "Accepted with Errors". If it says "Rejected," you need to submit a whole new file.
- The Acknowledgement XML file (The filename looks like this: Ack_1094C-19-00076489_02-26-2019_09-33-34AM_UTC.xml).
- This file contains the error messages and has links to the file that was sent in (3).
- The request file that was submitted generated the error. The filename should look something like this: 1094C_Request_TZRR2_20190226T125843000Z.xml)
How to use the screen:
- Upload the acknowledgment file.
- Upload the request file.
- Click the Process Error and Submission Files button
- A new note card will appear showing the errors in the file
- The link brings you to the 1095 screen for the employee, By clicking on the blue dot, you can see, if appropriate which dependent record (number) is in error.
- Fix the errors on the employees HEALTH CARE screen. (Usually, they are going to be bad or missing social security numbers on staff or members). You may need to correct the previous year if your healthcare is fiscal year.
- Go back to the 1095C screen for the employee, delete the current record, and then create it. The corrections will now ready to upload.
Once all of the corrections are done, you can now generate the new correction file. A 1095c correction file or a 1094c correction file can be generated depending on the updates required.
Generating the correction file
Click the Process and Download Correction Transmission Files button after the errors have been corrected. This button will create a new submission file that contains only the records that had errors. Submit this pair of files to the IRS.
If the correction submission also generates an Accepted with Errors result, then repeat the steps in this document. The only change is that the files that were sent from this process are used as the input files.
