Professional Development Plans by Evaluation Category

Create Professional Development Plan Settings for an Evaluation Category

  1. Go to the Evaluations→Setup→PDP→Lies of Plan Settings screen.
  2. Click the button to add plan settings for an Evaluation Category. This brings up the "Add PDP Settings" dialog:

  3. You must select the Evaluation Category and the Plan Type. There are three plan type settings:

    1. No PDP Plans - You are specifically preventing staff members in the selected category from creating plans:  yes it is possible to do this.

    2. Plan is required for all staff members - All staff members in the selected Evaluation Category (e.g. Teacher) are required to create a PDP Plan.

    3. Plan is optional for all staff members - All staff members in the selected Evaluation Category can create a PDP but are not required to do so.

    4. Once you have made you two selections, click "Add PDP Settings" to create the new category.  This creates the PDP Settings for the selected Evaluation Category, sets all parameters to system defaults, and brings up the "Modify PDP Settings" screen:

  4. There are a few minimal changes that must be made to these settings to fully configure Professional Development Plans for the Evaluation Category:

    1. PDF Report Output - You MUST select the Professional Development Plan PDF Form to use for this Evaluation  Category.  There are three built-in Professional Development Plan PDF Forms and it is highly recommended that you use one of these as they are closely aligned with the built-in plan templates.  It is possible to create your own Professional Development Plan PDF Form but we strongly suggest you use the built-in PDF Forms or alter them only minimally.  The built-in templates include:

      1. NJ PDP for Teachers - New Jersey's preferred PDP template for teachers.

      2. NJ PDP for Principals - New Jersey's preferred PDP template for principals.

      3. NJ PDP for Teachers (slim) - A 'skinny' version of the New Jersey preferred PDP template for teachers.

    2. Staff Initial Signing Statement - It's a good idea to add text the staff member will see when initially signing and submitting their PDP.

  5. Once you have created a Plan Settings for an Evaluation Category, all staff members in that category will be able to create plans, as long as:

    1. They have permission in their Roles and Portal setup.

    2. The Plan Type is anything other than "No PDP Plans".

The remainder of the settings are explained on the Modifying PDP Settings page.
